EHG5538 - Walkover survey - Tanera Mor

An archaeological survey of the island of Tanera Mor was undertaken by C Dagg in 2017 when the island came under new ownership and the Tanera Mor Restoration Project got underway. It was clear that the project was going to have a significant impact on the built heritage of the island and on any archaeological features within the development area. Unfortunately, a number of the archaeological and historic features listed have been destroyed by development before recording was possible, so the survey draws on a number of sources to provide as complete a record as possible. Features in the intertidal zone and on storm beaches have been particularly vulnerable to destruction for the purposes of winning building stone and a complete record of such features is not possible at present. <1>
