EHG5561 - Watching brief - Bellfield Farm, North Kessock (Phase 7)

Technique(s)

Organisation

Headland Archaeology Ltd

Date

May-July 2017

Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Headland Archaeology in 2017 during a topsoil strip at Bellfield, North Kessock in advance of a housing development by Tulloch Homes Ltd. Two previous phases of archaeological investigation had taken place to the south of the development area revealing evidence of occupation (including settlement, agricultural and industrial activity) beginning in the Neolithic and continuing for a period of several thousand years. The archaeological remains uncovered during the watching brief represent occupation and include the partial remains of an Iron Age roundhouse and various clusters of features probably related to industrial activity on the periphery of a settlement area. <1>
