EHG5565 - DBA and walkover survey - Hastigrow - Upper Gills OHL
Technique(s)
Organisation
Highland Archaeology Services Ltd
Date
Aug 2009
Description
An archaeological walkover survey of the proposed route of the installation of a new power line from Hastigrow to Upper Gills was carried out by Highland Archaeology Services in 2009. The route was walked over two days from Hastigrow to Alterwall (approximately ND 265 608 to ND 282 658) and then in the reverse direction from Upper Gills to Alterwall (approximately ND 316 721 to ND 282 658). The line of the proposed overhead cable was inspected for signs of possible archaeological features or areas of high potential. The width of the visible corridor, centred on the proposed line, ranged in practice from 50m to 500m depending on local vegetation cover and topography. Nothing was found that would require a route diversion however it was recommended that a possible feature may require an adjustment to pole positions. <1>
