EHG5572 - Desk-based assessment - Loch Loyal Lodge

Technique(s)

Organisation

CFA Archaeology Ltd

Date

2018

Description

A desk-based assessment was carried out by CFA Archaeology in 2018 ahead of proposed development at Loch Loyal Lodge, Sutherland. It was found that the proposed development area has undergone little development since the late 19th century. It is considered to have a low potential for containing previously unknown buried archaeological remains. The distance at which known assets lie outside the proposed development area ensures they will not be impacted. Two of the buildings to be demolished (The Garage and the School / Cottage) may be worthy of further survey as locally interesting examples of vernacular architecture. The scope of any mitigation works, if required, would need to be developed in consultation. <1>
