Date

Description

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2022 along a 120m stretch of forest track within Culloden Moor woods, near Inverness, prior to the creation of a new track, turning circle, and site compound. The requirement arose as the development site is located within the Inventory Battlefield area for the Battle of Culloden and followed a previous metal detector sUrvey of the development area (see EHG5625). The watching brief was carried out between 25th to 28th January 2022, during which groundworks for the new track were monitored, including widening of the entrance, and excavations of a new layby and turning area. No archaeological features were identified. <1>
