Description
A desk based assessment and walkover survey were carried out by West Coast Archaeological Servuces in 2019 on behalf of Ardnamurchan Estate and Kirn Limited in advance of a proposed native woodland planting scheme and associated works at Choire Mhuilinn, Ardnamurchan, Lochaber. The walkover survey recorded 8 archaeological sites and these included a prehistoric hut circle, the site of a possible illicit still, a turf and stone dyke and shielings, the latter relating to transhumance activities in the landscape including the potential droving of livestock between different communities and to markets. <1>
