Date
Feb 2022
Description
A watching brief was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2022 ahead of a residential development at Tulloch Square, Dingwall. The watching brief was carried out in lieu of an earlier evaluation that could not be completed due to unfavourable ground conditions. The site lies within part of a former designed landscape adjacent to Tulloch Castle. A large open area trench was excavated across the development area, and the only features identified were several ceramic and rubble field drains. The whole site suffered from extensive waterlogging. The east part of the site was covered by up to 3m of made-ground originating from spoil heaps from the previous adjacent development. Excavation in this area suggested that remnants of the original ground surface may have survived but no archaeological features were identified. <1>
