Description
A trial trenching evaluation was unbdertaken by AOC Archaeology in 2020 at the site of a proposed Primary School at Ness Castle, Inverness on behalf of Kier Construction Limited. The subsequent development will include a new 12 classroom primary school, car parking, access roads and other associated works and facilities. The evaluation involved excavation of 22 trenches across the site. Previously unknown constraints prevented the excavation of several trenches around the periphery of the site and the evaluation of two cairns. Three very truncated pit features were recorded, and one previously identified stone cairn was evaluated. <1>
