EHG5682 - DBA and walkover survey - proposed housing, Kirkhill
Technique(s)
Organisation
Highland Archaeology Services Ltd
Date
May 2019
Description
A preliminary archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey was carried out by Highland Archaeology Services in 2019 in advance of the proposed development of a parcel of land (Kirkhill KH5) at Kirkhill allocated for 90 new dwellings. The work was commissioned by Tulloch Homes Ltd. The survey was designed to inform the planning process by means of a review of documentary and cartographic sources for the study area. Research included an assessment of previously recorded heritage assets located within a 1km radius of the proposed development footprint and a site walkover. On the basis of the documentary sources consulted for the project it is concluded that the site has low potential for the preservation of significant buried archaeological deposits. However, in view of the location and setting alone the presence of buried archaeological deposits cannot be ruled out entirely. <1>
