EHG5709 - DBA and walkover survey - new access track, Balnalick, Drumnadrochit

Technique(s)

Organisation

AOC Archaeology Group

Date

April 2020

Description

An archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey were carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2020 ahead of construction of a new access track northwest of Balnalick Steading on the north side of Glen Urquhart above Loch Meikle. The survey was required due to the location of the development site within an area containing significant post- medieval and prehistoric archaeological remains. Eight archaeological sites were recorded, including two previously unrecorded sites. The individual locations of sites within a known group of clearance cairns were also recorded. The siting of the proposed track will not impact directly on any of the upstanding sites. <1>
