Date
2020
Description
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken by Arcus Consultancy Services Limited in 2020 for land located at Forss Business and Energy Park, near Thurso. The purpose was to establish the known or potential cultural heritage and archaeological resource baseline in order to assess the effects of the proposed Forss Anaerobic Digestion Plant. For the purposes of this assessment, the Core Study Area covered approximately 0.5 ha and represented where new infrastructure would be located. The Core Study Area is the area in which direct effects to archaeology may occur. A 1 km study area, which includes the Core Study Area and land within a 1 km radius, was used to aid the assessment for potential unknown archaeology to survive within the Core Study Area. The 1 km Study Area was also used to identify assets with the potential for a change in their setting and an indirect effect as a result of the Development. <1>
