Description

Archaeological monitoring was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2022 during the excavation of pipe trenches across two sections of the Scheduled Monument area at the Iron Ore Mine, above Inverarish, Isle of Raasay. No archaeological deposits were identified at the site of the Mine 1 main entrance, and modest indications of the structure of the railway ballast were observed on the Mine 2 railway route, near the Inverarish Burn. No further work is required. <1>
