Description

A programme of archaeological Trial Trenching was carried out by Highland Archaeology Services in 2020 in advance of an application to extend the gravel quarry and tipping facility at Evelix Quarry, near Dornoch, Sutherland. Eighteen trenches were opened and examined by a professional archaeologist following the methodology outlined in a Project Design document. The total area of the trenches opened exceeded 7% of the proposed development area. Only 6 features were confirmed, all of which were of low archaeological value. No artefacts were recovered. No further work is recommended. <1>
