EHG5768 - Desk based assessment - proposed Sallachy Wind Farm
Technique(s)
Organisation

Date
2020-21
Description
A desk-based assessment was carried out by CFA Archaeology in 2020-21 to inform an environmental statement for a proposed wind farm development at Sallachy. The assessment drew on the results and conclusions of a walkover survey carried out by GUARD in 2011 for the previous wind farm scheme which did not receive consent and no additional fieldwork was undertaken. The assessment considered the potential direct effects on assets within the Proposed Development site boundary and identified assets within 1 km of the site boundary, sufficient to inform the character of the archaeological landscape (Inner Study Area). The assessment also considered the indirect effects of the Proposed Development on the settings of heritage assets in the wider landscape (Outer Study Area). An assessment of the identified cultural heritage assets, and consideration of the current and past land-use within and in the immediate vicinity of the Inner Study Area, suggested that there was a low or negligible probability that hitherto undiscovered archaeological remains were present within the site. <1>
