Date

Description
An archaeological watching brief was carried out by M Kenworthy in 2001 on a house construction site at Ardendrain, Glen Convinth. The site is located at NH 5066 3764, on the east side of the unclassified road running south-westwards off the A833. It lies about 400 metres north of a known settlement site consisting of hut circles and a field system. The site was first visited on 26/05/2001, when work was due to begin stripping the turf. The site was inspected before the stripping of the turf began, and no archaeological features were noted. The only feature of interest was an old field wall, running approximately north - south from the road, and forming the eastern boundary of the site. The stripping of the turf was observed, and also the excavation of service trenches, and of a drainage ditch on the west side of the site, next to and parallel to the road. No archaeological features at all were seen anywhere on the site. Work continued on 19/06/2001, when the foundation trenches for the house were observed. Again, no features of any kind were noted. <1>
