EHG5774 - Trial trenching - new housing development, Teandallon, Evanton
Technique(s)
Organisation
AOC Archaeology Group
Date
Sept 2020
Description
Phase 1 of an archaeological trial trenching evaluation was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2020 prior to the construction of 140 houses, associated infrastructure and landscaping at land by Teandallon, Evanton. The evaluation was required because the development site is located in an area with potential for the survival of buried archaeological deposits. Seventeen trenches were excavated in two areas. No significant archaeological features were present in any of the trenches. Several field drains and evidence of vegetation clearance were present across the site, indicating previous agricultural activity. No further archaeological work is recommended for Phase 1. <1>
