EHG5789 - Desk-based assessment - proposed Cloiche Wind Farm
Technique(s)
Organisation
AOC Archaeology Group
Date
2019-2020
Description
A desk-based assessment was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2019-20 in advance of the proposed development of a wind farm at Cloiche to inform an environmental impact assessment. The aim of this assessment is to identify the archaeological and cultural heritage value of the site and to identify the likely significant direct and indirect effects which may result as a consequence of the Proposed Development. Four study areas were identified for this assessment: A core study area (the site) which includes all land within the site boundary which is subject to assessment for potential direct effect; a 1km study area for the identification of all known heritage assets and known previous archaeological interventions in order to help predict whether any similar hitherto unknown archaeological remains are likely to survive within the site and thus may be impacted by the Proposed Development; a 5km study area for the assessment of potential effects on settings of all
designated assets, and non-designated assets of regional or greater importance and A 10km study area for the assessment of potential effects on settings of designated heritage assets of national importance. <1>
