Technique(s)

Avon Archaeology (Highland)

Date

July 2022

Description

An archaeological watching brief and recording project was undertaken by Avon Archaeology (Highland) in 2022 in accordance with the requirements of planning consent during preliminary groundworks for a new house, access road and SUDS at 101 Knockarthur, Rogart, a greenfield site that had not been developed previously. The watching brief fieldwork recorded a uniform and simple sequence of deposits across the entire site comprising topsoil overlying undisturbed natural substrate. The areas stripped of topsoil were entirely archaeologically sterile - no significant archaeological deposits, features or finds were revealed and the potential for the preservation of significant archaeological remains elsewhere on the site was considered to be low. In view of this no further archaeological mitigation was recommended. <1>
