Description

A watching brief was undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group in 2022 at Glengolly Farmhouse, Thurso (ND 10199 66071), as part of a planning condition for the installation of 4 pods, BBQ hut, cycle store and associated infrastructur. The site lies in an open area of grassland located approximately 1.8 miles southwest of Thurso, adjacent to Glengolly Farm. A total of two ditches, two field drains and the partial location of a known sluice were uncovered. The results of the archaeological work show further evidence of drainage activity within the area associated with the existing sluice. No further archaeological work is recommended within the development site. <1>
