Description

This report details the findings of a site inspection carried out at Dalmore Distillery, Dalmore, Alness, following trenching works in advance of the installation of an electricity substation. The inspection was required due to the development being situated within an area of archaeological potential. The original requirement was for a watching brief to be carried out during groundworks, however, these had already been completed by the time an archaeologist was called to the site. Therefore, only a site inspection visit was able to be carried out on 18th March 2019 with the excavated trenches inspected for exposed features and artefacts. The trenches measured approximately 0.50m wide and 0.70m deep. The partial remains of a stone building late 19th century in date were identified on the site. A photographic survey of an adjacent walled garden was also carried out. <1>
