Technique(s)
Organisation
Arcus Consultancy Services
Date
Oct 2020-May 2021
Description
A desk-based asssessment and walkover survey were undertaken by Arcus Consultancy Services in October 2020 to inform an Environmental Impact Assessment in advance of proposals for the development of a new wind farm at Armadale, Sutherland. The weather was poor with heavy rain and low visibility. A general walkover of accessible areas of the core study area was conducted however due to the heavy rainfall, sections of the area were flooded and inaccessible by foot. The walkover was therefore confined to area east of Allt Beag leading towards Armadale Broch (SM 13678). No additional archaeological features were noted. Further site visits were made in May 2021 and again, no new sites were identified. Impacts on the known and potebtiually unknown sites and deposits would be mitigated by a suggested programme of archaeological works. <1> <2>
