Description

An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in 2020 for a site located off Harbour Road, Lower Brora, Highland. The study was designed to collate all readily available documentary sources relating to the site in order to establish baseline information relating to recorded heritage assets or events located on or in the vicinity of the site. The information gathered was intended to enable an informed assessment of the site's archaeological and heritage potential. On the basis of the documentary sources consulted it was concluded that the site had some low to moderate archaeological potential, principally relating to the construction and use of the 19th century harbour and the associated herring fishing industry. <1>
