Technique(s)
Organisation
Neo Environmental
Date
April 2014
Description
A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were undertaken by Neo Environmental in 2014 of the area of the proposed Conc Morail Wind Farm near Watten, Caithness. The aim of the survey was to assess the extent and significance of previously recorded sites, Listed Buildings and SAMs and to identify any hitherto unknown sites of archaeological significance which may be potentially affected by the proposed development site. The proposed development area is primarily open moorland. The walkover survey identified two areas of potential archaeological interest. It was considered that no designated or undesignated heritage assets would be directly affected by the proposed development. A mitigation strategy was outlined to ensure that unidentified archaeological remains would be monitored adequately in accordance with legislation and guidelines. Indirect impacts upon the setting and views were assessed in detail and the impact of the proposed development was anticipated to be low. <1>
