Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Clyde Archaeology in 2020 at Murkle Bay, Caithness in relation to the replacement of a subsea cable between Murkle Bay and Rackwick Bay, Hoy. The work was carried out by Clyde Archaeology between the 15th and 24th July 2020 and included archaeological monitoring of intrusive works related to the cable route and the joint transition pit. Two anti-tank blocks forming part of WWII defences were exposed during the cable trenching and were preserved in situ. No other significant archaeological remains were uncovered. <1>
