Date
Sept 2022
Description
An archaeological walkover survey was carried out by Robert Lenfert Archaeology in 2022 on a 179ha parcel of land located near Ben Armine Lodge on Sutherland Estate near Rogart, Sutherland in advance of a proposed native broadleaf woodland creation scheme. The site is centred on NC 734 168 and currently comprises open grazing land. The walkover terrain was located in open land with low vegetation, mainly grasses, which offered unobstructed views of the landscape, thus allowing easy identification of archaeological features. While no new features were identified, a number of previously known features within the planting areas were visited. Six areas are to be set aside for archaeology of which three had already been set aside and three additional small buffer areas were identified during the walkover survey. <1>
