Date

Description
An archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey were carried out by West Coast Archaeological Sevices in 2023 in advance of a proposed new broodstock fish hatchery and a woodland screening creation scheme focused at Ardessie, Dundonnell, in Ross & Cromarty. The walkover survey recorded 15 archaeological sites comprising 22 individual features which included stone dykes forming field systems, field clearance/clearance cairns, an area of rig and furrow cultivation, stone-revetting walls, and a farmstead; all of which are probably post-medieval in date. Some of the features may be recent, associated with the original fish farm complex at Ardessie. <1>
