EHG6044 - DBA and walkover survey - proposed Tomchrasky Wind Farm
Technique(s)
Organisation
AOC Archaeology Group
Date
Aug 2021
Description
A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group in 2021 in advance of the proposed development of the Tomchrasky Wind Farm. The work was intended to inform an Environmental Impact Assessment. The survey was able to view and assess all areas of the proposed development site, however, the far eastern portion was not directly accessed due to the presence of cattle freely roaming in this area. Views to the eastern boundary and the landscape between the viewing point and the boundary were captured to allow the landscape in this portion of the site to be assessed. The Scheduled Monument of the Fort August to Bernera Military Road was accessed and walked. The Military Road was found to be in poor condition, only base layers of overgrown stone and gravel were visible in some places. No new finds or features were observed within the proposed development site during
the walkover survey. <1>
