EHG6066 - Watching brief - housing development, Dalmore (Phase 6)

Technique(s)

Organisation

AOC Archaeology Group

Date

Feb-March 2023

Description

A second phase of archaeological watching brief was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2023 on land 200m southeast of Alness Academy, Dalmore, Alness, which forms Phase 6 of a larger housing development (see EHG5958 for the first phase of watching brief). The archaeological watching brief was required due to the proximity of the development to many significant prehistoric archaeological sites. The work was undertaken during the construction of a footpath and the excavation of a cable trench. No additional arechaeological features were identified. A programme of post-excavation analysis was recommended to cover all phases of archaeological work. It was also recommended that any future ground-breaking on the development and in the immediate vicinity should be conducted under archaeological supervision. <1>
