Description

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2023 prior to the construction of a new house on land near Balleigh, Edderton. All groundworks were monitored by an archaeologist by way of a controlled topsoil strip from a rectangular area which measured c. 40m x 35m (1,400m²). A large irregularly shaped pit, which measured c. 3m x 2m, was identified close to the centre of the site. This was modern in date and contained fence posts and barbed wired. No archaeological features or deposits were identified across the development site. No further archaeological work was recommended. <1>
