EHG6262 - Screening survey - proposed new bridge, Naver Bridge, Bettyhill

Technique(s)

Organisation

AOC Archaeology Group

Date

Oct-Dec 2021

Description

A pre-mobilisation walkover screening survey was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2022 in order to identify areas for an archaeological watching brief of the GI locations for a proposed bridge replacement scheme at Invernaver. This was carried out due to the possible presence of previously unrecorded upstanding archaeology within the development area and access routes. One unrecorded upstanding heritage asset (Site 1) was identified adjacent to BH106. The site was demarcated and suitable access routes for BH101-105 and TP101-103 were designated for plant and personnel to avoid impacting upon the site. BH106 was microsited c.5m to the southeast. The nearby cairnfield (see MHG10905) was also demarcated in order to safeguard the area from inadvertent impact by plant. <1>
