Technique(s)
Organisation

Date
Aug 2024
Description
An archaeological trial trenching evaluation was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in 2024 in advance of works for the development of an additional warehouse at the warehouse complex serving Tormore Distillery, near Grantown-on-Spey. A desk-based assessment was carried out ahead of fieldwork in order to ascertain the archaeological potential of the site. The fieldwork was designed to identify and record archaeological remains that may be disturbed by the proposed development. The fieldwork was conducted between the 8th and 10th of August 2024. Parts of the site were inaccessible due to tree cover, and the area to the west of the site was found to be previously disturbed. Ten trenches were opened across the available area, all of which were archaeologically sterile. No further archaeological works were recommended. <1>
