Date

Description

An archaeological trial trenching evaluation carried out by AOC Archaeology Groyp in 2024 at land at Essich Road, Inverness in advance of the creation of a communal space with allotments, an orchard, and areas for outdoor activities and training. The evaluation was required as the development is located adjacent to several known archaeological sites. Fieldwork was carried out on the 4th and 5th November 2024. Seventeen trenches were excavated across the development area. One shallow linear ditch was recorded, as well as a large area of modern disturbance. Between the 6th and 9th November 2024, schools outreach and a community open day were undertaken adding public benefit and social value to the development. No further archaeological work was recommended. <1>
