EHG6354 - DBA and walkover survey - proposed Swarclett Wind Farm
Technique(s)
Organisation
AOC Archaeology Group
Date
July 2023
Description
An archaeological walkover survey was undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group in 2023 in the area of a proposed wind faarm at Swarclett, Caithness. The survey had the aims of identifying any previously unknown archaeological remains and confirming the extent, condition and significance of previously recorded remains. Some sections of the proposed development site could not be accessed directly due to cattle or mature cereal crop, however these areas could be viewed from afar. The assessment considered the potential for direct physical effects upon archaeological remains as well as the potential for operational and cumulative setting effects upon designated heritage assets. Where appropriate, measures to mitigate or offset such effects were identified, and an assessment of the significance of residual effects, following the implementation of any mitigation, was also made. <1>
