Date

July 2024-Feb 2025

Description

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2024-25 during the construction of three wind turbines and associated infrastructure at Tacher Wind Farm, Caithness. The requirement for the work arose from the location of the development within an area with medium potential for significant archaeological remains to survive. The fieldwork took place intermittently between 17th July 2024 and 27th February 2025. Monitoring was undertaken during the construction of a new access road, turbine bases and during the diversion of existing natural drainage features. Two features were identified, including a possible stone storage structure and an isolated pit. One possible flint core was recovered. No further archaeological features or finds were identified. No further archaeological work was recommended within the development site. <1>
