Description

An archaeological walkover survey was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in 2025 in advance of the upgrading of an existing ATV track near Badachro, Gairloch. The DBA for the site noted seven heritage features previously recorded within a 1km radius of the site. These included an enclosure with an associated hut circle, inclusive of a probable later shieling or shelter, to the immediate north of Lochan Fuar and within close proximity to the proposed ATV track route. Despite high vegetation levels, the hut circle, probable shieling, and enclosure were identified on the ground. No other archaeological features were identified in the proximity of the proposed development. <1> A watching brief was subsequently undertaken (see EHG6519).
