Full Description

A hut circle to the southeast of Lydsurach. Originally recorded by the OS as hut circle 'A'.

NH69NW 2 6151 9526 and 6153 9523.
Within a small contemporary field system marked by stone clearance heaps and some lynchets, are two hut circles, 'A' and 'B' respectively.
'A' measures 10.5m idiameter between wall centres and has an entrance gap in SE.
'B' measures 11.5m diameter between wall centres and has an entrance gap in SSE.
Both huts are set into a SE slope.
Surveyed at 1:2500. Visited by OS (J M) 10 June 1975.

No change Visited by OS (J M) 8 September 1980.

The hut circle was noted during a walkover survey undertaken by S Farrell in 2005 in advance of the construction of a new house and associated services. Hut circle 'A': NH 61519 95266 at 791ft, 10.58m in diameter, with entrance to south. No associated features or deposits were seen in the subsequent watching brief and the hut circle itself was avoided. <1>

The hut circle is visible in vertical aerial photographs taken in 2020 and in SEPA LiDAR data. <2> <3>
