Full Description

NH69SE 12 690 945.
On natural terrace on S-facing slope, is a settlement of four hut circles (A - D) obscured by peat and overgrown with heather and bracken. Hut 'A' is of different character to others; it measures 8.5m diameter within collapsed wall surviving to height of 0.3m and spread to 2m wide. The entrance is in SW arc. Huts B, C and D are similar, being smaller and of slight construction compared to 'A'. They are distinctly oval, measuring 5m E-W by 4m transversely within a reduced rubble wall up to 0.3m high and spread to 1.5m wide. The entrance in each case is in E arc on line of longer axis. Attached to N arc of hut 'D' is what appears to be a contemporary sub-rectangular enclosure measuring internally 7m E-W by 4m transversely within a wall of similar size and condition to that of hut, but with 1 or two upright inner facing stones exposed. The entrance is in E; there is no gap between hut and enclosure.
An overgrown field wall occurs to W of group, but it appears to be later. No evidence of cultivation contemporary with the huts.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (N K B) 19 September 1980.
