Full Description
NH69NE 13 6741 9530 AND 6731 9547.
At NH 6741 9530 and NH 6731 9547, on a W-facing hillside, are two hut circles (A and B respectively), accompanied by a scatter of field clearance heaps.
'A', is a wasted hut, measuring some 7.5m by 6.5m across internally with the entrance in the S arc on the line of the long axis; the wall is distinguishable as a sparse, peat-covered, rubble spread. A stony mound, probably field clearance, abuts the exterior of the hut in the N.
'B' measures about 8.0m in diameter inside a wall completely obscured by peat but for two or three external facing stones in the N. The entrance is in the S.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (J M) 25 September 1980.
Ross, Finlay and Ashmore suggest that the alleged hut circles and cairns are actually lengths of peat and covered banks of unusual shape and are natural in origin.
