Full Description

Remains of a longhouse and wall at Ushat Head, Caithness.

Longhouse and wall, recorded by R Mercer in 1981 during a survey undertaken by the University of Edinburgh, one of several over a number of years in Caithness: Site 350: Longhouse. Dimensions 15m x 5m. Longhouse with 3 internal divisions. Associated with at least 80m walling. Orientation: NE-SW. Elevation: 100' OD. ND 036709. <1>

The longhouse and wall are visible in LiDAR data gathered by AOC Archaeology in 2011 as part of the mitigation for the visual impact on the archaeological landscape associated with the proposed Baillie Hill windfarm, Caithness. <2>
