Hut Circle (NR) OS 1:10,000 map, (1970)

On top of cliff S of Aberscross, is a circular enclosure of indefinite outline.
RCAHMS 1911, visited 1909.

This hut circle, is presumably enclosure noted by RCAHMS, no other enclosures could be located in the vicinity (OS {R D L}).
It is ill-defined, measuring 14.5m NW-SE by 13m between centres of a wall with an entrance gap in the SE. A 4m break in the NW arc, and a lowering of the floor level in the same quadrant gives an impression of a rectangular structure 9m by 4m (possibly associated with nearby deserted settlement of Aberscross to the NNE) obtruding into the hut by about 3.5m.
Contemporary cultivation is indicated by one or two stone clearance heaps on slopes to NW.
Revised at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (RDL) 15 4 1964 and (JM) 17 July 1975.
