Full Description

NC80NE 38 8581 0502.

NC 8581 0502. On a natural shelf on a E-facing slope is a circular stone-walled hut, measuring 10.5m in diameter, within a wall overgrown with peat, but with both inner and outer facing stones visible, indicating a wall breadth of 2.0m. There is a simple entrance gap in the SE.
About 13.0m to the SE is a length of peat-covered wall whose opposing ends curve in towards the hut. It is strongly suggested that they connect with the hut to form an associated enclosure, probably for stock.
The area around the hut, of close-cropped heather free of stones, suggest former cultivation but there are no signs of field plots or clearance heaps.
Surveyed at 1:10,560.
Visited by OS (J M) 19 February 1976.
