Full Description
Various tumuli lie scattered about in the vicinity of the site of St Columba's Chapel and it is generally believed that a battle was fought thereabout. There is a tradition in the neighbourhood that three Danish warriors with a considerable following entered this glen for the purpose of subduing the inhabitants but were completely defeated and one is said to have been slain at Killean and another at Kilbrare. Nothing is known about the date of this conflict.
