Full Description
NC75SW 41 743 548.
At NC 7430 5482 and NC 7430 5479, on a natural shelf on a W facing hill-slope are two poorly-preserved hut circles (A and B respectively) accompanied by some field clearance.
'A' is reduced to a heather platform, measuring about 10m diameter with residual walling evident on the periphery; a depression in the S perimeter may indicate an entrance. Outside in the N a length of ruinous wall extends downhill. A shieling intrudes in the E arc.
'B' is about 11m diameter inside a wall surviving as a low, 1.5m broad, spread in the NE half, and elsewhere obscured by the shieling footings occupying the interior, and by stone clearance piled over the SE quarter. An entrance is no longer evident.
Associated cultivation is denoted by about a dozen stone clearance heaps in the vicinity, but no plots are discernible.
Surveyed at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (J M) 21 July 1977.
