Enclosures and Hut Circles (NR) OS 6"map, (1968)
On the lower south slope of a hill are eight hut circles.
Visited by OS (E G C) 21 July 1961.
Eight hut circles (A-H) generally reduced and heather blanketed.
Huts A-E measure from 7.5 by 6.5m to 9.5m by 8.5m within wall-spreads of 2-2.5m and 0.2 -0.3m high; the entrances are in the SE quarter on the line of the main axis in all instances.
'F' is set in the slope and measures approximately 11 by 10m inside a main wall-spread of 2.5m expanding to 4m in the sides of an entrance in the SE. The hut is up to 0.7m high in the E half, but elsewhere appreciably much lower.
'G' measures about 9m diameter internally with an entrance in the SE. The wall is obscure.
'H' remains only as a circular depression in the end of a slight spur. There are a number of scattered field clearance heaps in the vicinity of the huts, but no measurable field plots are discernible.
Revised at 1:10,000. Visited by OS (J M) 13 May 1981.
