Full Description
NH78NE 17 7989 8986.
A convent is traditionally said to have stood near the Franciscan Friary (NH78NE 16) on a hill called 'Cnoc na Cailleach' which Calder translates as 'Hill of the Old Women' although 'na Cailleach' would appear to be singular.
Neither Easson (1957) nor Cowan (1964) make any mention of a convent at Dornoch. W Calder 1955.
Cnoc na Cailleach is at NH 7989 8986. The name is recalled by older folk but is not in general use. No further information.
Visited by OS (A A) 31 March 1971; Info from Miss E R MacKay, Ach na Craobhan, Rearquhar.
