Full Description
A cup-shaped stone lamp found on Croft 386, Cagarve, Elphin (NC 2111) was donated to the NMAS by G MacLeod, Cagarve, 1956-7. Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1959.
MacLeod is deceased, but a close relative, Mr Menzies believes that the lamp was found whilst ploughing on the croft which is at NC 214 109, and now abandoned.
Visited by OS (A A) 9 July 1974.
Listed under Acc. No. AQ 118 in the NMS catalogue. It is described as of steatite, cup-shaped with a broken perforated handleand engraved on the outside with two lines of S scrolls divided by a horizontal line. <1>
