Full Description

A settlement labelled 'Kenlochbreen' is shown immediately to the west of the burn running from 'Loch Inish Babuy' into Loch Inchard on the C18 Roy Military Survey Maps. Unusually it is shown as a cluster of buildings within what appear to be dykes. Cultivated fields are shown to the north, east and west. By the time of the OS 1st Edition map this core area would appear to have been largely abandoned as the OS show a small number of unroofed buildings and small enclosures with expansion to the northwest displaying characteristics of a crofting township and additional occupation on the opposite bank of the Allt Lochan Innis na Bà Buidhe. Later development has seen re-occupation of the early core area. <1> <2>

This township comprises forty-three roofed and twelve unroofed structures, of which nine may be buildings, as depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1878, sheet xxii). The site contains sixty-four roofed and twenty unroofed buildings as it is depicted on the current edition of the OS 1:10,560 map (1962).
Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 10 August 1995

Two areas of rig cultivation are visible on vertical aerial photography. The larger area is to the north-northwest of the settlement adjacent to Loch Clash and a second, much smaller area is north of the original core of the settlement adjacent to Loch Innis na Bà Buidhe. <3>
