A large farmstead or small settlement is shown on Roy's Military Survey map at the northwest end of 'Loch Hallan' (Loch Heilan) and labelled 'Hallanmake'. <1>
This farmstead comprises a grass-covered longhouse measuring 26m x 5m, which has two internal divisions and walling up to twelve courses in height. It is associated with an outbuilding 13m x 5m and an enclosure 15m x 16m. A further structure which measures 12m x 4m and stands to a height of 1m with two centrally opposed entrances and a kiln at one end. This structure lies approximately 10m E of the longhouse.
R J Mercer, 1980-81
A farmstead comprising two unroofed buildings, one of which is a T-shaped long building, and part of what may be another is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet vi), but it is not shown on the OS 1:10000 map (1975).

NOTE: this site is some 2.3km to the west of where 'Hollandmaik' or 'Hollandmake' is shown on OS mapping from the 1st edition onwards (see MHG18324). Was the farmstead/settlement moved? IS-L 05/11/2024
