Full Description
NH 665 392 'Upper Balvonie': Depopulated farmstead (letter CJ Shaw of Tordarroch 12.5.1962)
Four buildings are shown on the OS 1st edition 25 inch map, only one of which, presumably the main farmhouse, is shown as fully roofed. A second, at right angles to the main building at its northern end is shown partly roofed. The third building is shown as an incomplete rectangle c.17m to the northwest of the second building, with the fourth c. 34m to the northeast of the third. All of the buildings had gone by the time of the survey of the OS 2nd edition. <1>
Footings of the the two main buildings are visible on vertical aerial photographs taken in 2020, as are those of a fifth building at the immediate right angle to the main building's southern end. <2>
