The special services vessel DURHAM CASTLE purchased by Admiralty for use as store ship, but was mined.

Surveying Details
-----------------------------
A steel wreck, approximately 200 feet (61 metres) long, was located at the charted posn. The vessel lies on her starboard side with a large jagged hole in the port side. The keel is orientated 340/160 degrees. The vessel stands approx 4.5 metres above a flat, hard sandy seabed. Report by HMS DINGLEY, 11 April 1964.

10 March 1976. The vessel was located at decca [n scot] red i 8.95, green a 38.51, purple a 69.05 or Moray Firth hf - pat 1 148.96, pat 2 120.25. The least echosounder depth obtained was 19.6 in a general depth of 20 metres. A scour to the water depth of 22 metres was observed.

10 June 1993. After a thorough magnetometer search, only wreckage was found. This took the form of piles of iron hull plating covering a large area. It appears that either the wreck has been dispersed or has completely collapsed. Nothing was found to stand more than 2 metres high.
